Research published by the Pensions Regulator has revealed that only 29% of employers who have a staging date for pension auto-enrolment in 2016 are aware of when that date is. An employer’s staging date is the date that their statutory pension auto-enrolment duties come into effect. The Pensions Regulator estimates that 1.8 million employers will have staging dates within the next two years. Guidance issued by the Regulator recommends that employers should allow up to 12 months in advance of their staging date to prepare for pension auto-enrolment. The Regulator has issued a warning to employers to check when their staging date is.
